Carey Bell

Carey Bell is a skilled litigator whose practice focuses on criminal defense, civil rights litigation, and other disputes. Carey prides himself on being attentive to his clients’ needs and working with them to understand what matters most in each particular situation. He is a relentless advocate and works tirelessly to achieve the best possible outcome in every case.

Before joining SLH, Carey clerked for two years for Judge Michael Berger at the Colorado Court of Appeals where he worked on a wide variety of criminal and civil appeals and honed his ability to argue persuasively on behalf of his clients. Prior to clerking, Carey spent four years as an associate at one of the country’s largest law firms, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath. At Faegre Drinker, Carey counseled a wide range of business and corporate clients, particularly in the investment management industry.

Carey maintains an active pro bono practice. He has worked with the Innocence Project, served for many years as an appointed advocate for a child in the foster care system, and represented members of the military through a veterans assistance program. He has achieved successful outcomes for numerous clients in litigation under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, landlord/tenant disputes, and other matters.

Carey graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School where he gained experience fighting for clients’ rights in the school’s Civil Practice Clinic and was an associate editor for the Journal of Business Law.
